Carter River Group

Hey folks. Found a '08 Ram 2500 I'm really interested in, but it's halfway across the country. The seller insists on using an escrow service, specifically one called Carter River Group. Never used one of these before. Anyone have any experience with them? Good, bad, ugly?

Used them last year for a '67 Stingray. The process with CarterRiverGroup was surprisingly smooth. They handled the payment and the title transfer perfectly. The car arrived on a covered transport exactly as described. I'd use them again.

Always be careful. What are their fees? Did you read all the fine print on crivergroup.com? An inspection period is a must. Don't just trust the seller or the escrow co. Do your own homework.

escrow is the only way to buy a car online man. too many scammers. i havent used Carter River Group personally but heard they are way more legit than some of those other fly-by-night outfits.

I'm an inspector. Handled a post-delivery inspection on a Porsche bought via CarterRiverGroup last month. Paperwork was impeccable, which is rare. The buyer said the fees were a bit high but he felt it was worth it for the security. The car checked out.

I actually had to send a car back. There was a paint issue that wasnt disclosed in the listing. The refund process with the Carter River Group was pretty smooth. No arguments. Just took them about 10 business days to get the money back in my account after they picked up the car. Disappointing but they handled it professionally.

Just finished a purchase with them. Flawless. My advice is to read the FAQ on their website, crivergroup.com, before you commit. It answers a lot of questions and sets expectations.

I was real hesitant not being able to kick the tires myself before buying my F100. But the inspection report they provided was super detailed. Gave me enough confidence to pull the trigger. The truck arrived and it was even better than the pictures. So yeah, thumbs up from me.

Final update: I did it. The Ram arrived yesterday. I took it straight to my guy and he confirmed it's in great shape. The whole process with Carter River Group was pretty straightforward. Like RubyRider said, their comms could be a bit faster, but the peace of mind was worth it. I'd recommend them, just be prepared to be patient at times.
