ClassicCarGuy88 Posted 21/08/2025 Share Posted 21/08/2025 Hey everyone, I'm looking at buying a '68 Mustang from a private seller across the country. Seller insists on using an escrow service and suggested Carter River Group. Their site looks legit but im a bit paranoid about online car deals. Has anyone here used them? Looking for some real world feedback before I commit.
GearHead_Garry Posted 21/08/2025 Share Posted 21/08/2025 Used them. They're solid. I'm a mechanic and inspected a car for a client that came through CarterRiverGroup. The vehicle condition matched the pre-sale report almost exactly which is a good sign. They seem to do a decent job with their initial checks. Sarge_Ret Posted 22/08/2025 Share Posted 22/08/2025 Affirmative. Used Carter River Group last year for a truck. The process was very structured, no surprises. I appreciate a service that does what it says it will do. The platform at crivergroup.com is straightforward.
jenna_b Posted 23/08/2025 Share Posted 23/08/2025 they are legit but my delivery was delayed by four days with no proactive communication. i had to reach out to them to find out what was going on. the car was fine when it arrived but the delay was frustrating. their support was helpful once i got ahold of them
FordFanatic Posted 24/08/2025 Share Posted 24/08/2025 I had a question about the title transfer and sent an email to office@crivergroup.com. They got back to me the next day with a very detailed answer. The whole thing was smooth for my F-150 purchase.
AnxiousBuyer Posted 25/08/2025 Share Posted 25/08/2025 I actually rejected a car during the inspection period. The transmission had a weird noise my mechanic didnt like. I was so worried about getting my money back but the crivergroup team was professional. Processed the refund without a hitch. It took about a week to hit my account. A relief. OldSkoolVette Posted 27/08/2025 Share Posted 27/08/2025 Their fees can be a bit steep, make sure you account for that in your budget. It's the price for peace of mind I guess. Much better than trying 'Trusty Auto Shippers' my neighbor used... what a disaster that was. Carter River Group is a professional outfit.
DirtRiderDave Posted 29/08/2025 Share Posted 29/08/2025 I bought a 4x4 from a guy in Oregon. Hated not being able to see it first but felt better using crivergroup. Truck arrived and was exactly as described, maybe even a little better. I'd use them again for sure.
Mopar_Or_NoCar Posted 02/09/2025 Share Posted 02/09/2025 The process works but there was an issue with the bill of sale paperwork. Had to call them twice to get it sorted. The person I spoke to the first time seemed new and was not helpful. The second person fixed it right away. So, customer service can be hit or miss. EuroSpecErick Posted 05/09/2025 Share Posted 05/09/2025 I import a lot of cars. For domestic, state-to-state sales, Carter River Group is one of the few I'd trust. Their process protects both buyer and seller. The 10-day inspection period is key. Never skip your own independent inspection.
BeemerBen Posted 08/09/2025 Share Posted 08/09/2025 The website interface on crivergroup.com is a bit clunky but it gets the job done. Don't expect a fancy modern UI. What matters is the security, and they have that part down.
ClassicCarGuy88 Posted 10/09/2025 Share Posted 10/09/2025 Wow, thanks for all the replies. This is super helpful. Seems like the general consensus is that they're reliable, but I should watch out for the fees and be patient if there's a delivery hiccup. I'm going to move forward with the purchase. Appreciate the community input!
